WP-Members 2.6.1 bug fix release announcement

By Chad Butler Leave a Comment

Any time that there is a new plugin release, there are bound to be a few bugs.  Overall, in the 2.6 release, so far the reported bugs have been relatively small.

Admin file corrections

It was discovered that the admin file for the 2.6 release had been built on code from the 2.5.1 release, so the admin side bug fixes in 2.5.2 were essentially rolled back in 2.6.  I went through the entire file and reapplied the essential fixes to get us back on track.  This includes the following:

  • Settings link in the WP installed plugins panel
  • View menu links for the WP-Members bulk user management page
  • Ignore warning messages on the WP-Members settings page

Core file corrections

The core file in the 2.6 release included a new function that was not intended to be active in the production release, but was still included.  This function essentially provides an excerpt in instances where there is no ‘more’ tag.  When completed, this will make the plugin function more smoothly for users that are applying it to existing content where they may not want to go back and stick in ‘more’ tags for hundreds of posts.

The key is that this function was supposed to be deactivated in the 2.6 production release and it wasn’t.  The 2.6.1 bug fix release turns it off.  If you are seeing unexpectedly truncated posts in summary pages (such as the home page or a category page), this bug fix release will correct that.

There were a couple code cleanup issues covered in this release as well, but the above list covers the bugs.  Thanks to those that reported these and helped with tracking down the issues!
