Are you a WordPress admin, developer, designer, or otherwise creating WordPress sites? Do you struggle with finding good examples of the power of hooks and filters in customizing your WordPress installation? Then you need to bookmark WordPress Code Snippets at wpsnipp.com.
WordPress Code Snippets is a blog by Kevin Chard. This site is full of great ideas for template developers and plugin developers alike, as well as WordPress power users.
Code snippets are organized by category, some of which include:
- functions.php
- htaccess
- jquery
- social
- templates
- trackbacks
- and MUCH MORE!!
The site’s top menu contains a menu for the top categories, but the sidebar has a list of all. And posts are well tagged, so a look at the tag list should also help you find what you are looking for. The sidebar also gives you snippets by recent and most popular.
A good example of the kind of tips you’ll find on wpsnipp.com is “Track post views without a plugin using post meta.” Kevin begins by describing what the snippet will accomplish, and then giving you a snippet that can be copy/pasted. This is followed by simple instructions on how to implement the snippet on your WordPress site.
If that’s not enough for you to figure out how to use the snippet, you will also notice that this site has active comments/commenters. It is good to see that Kevin actively responds to comments left on the site.
I’ve been following this site’s RSS feed for awhile now and I find that the site is regularly updated, so you’ll find fresh content often. As I write this, there are 425 snippets on the site. I’m sure that will increase by tomorrow!
This site has usable code snippets for all kinds of projects. If you can’t find it, it probably doesn’t exist. Check out wpsnipp.com today!
