Running a successful blog as a business is an achievable venture. Here are some books that will help you do it.
Any book on this list is a book that I have actually read and found to be a valuable resource.
ProBlogger: Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-figure Income
If you could only buy one book about blogging, this would be the one. I have read it more than once, and I recommend it to anyone who has told me they would like to either improve their blogging situation, or want to start with the intention of making a living (or at least some decent cash on the side). Even if you have been blogging for quite some time, as I have, you will find good ideas in this book.
The $100 Startup
This would be next on the “must read” list. In my official review of this book, I had downgraded it just a little because I felt that Chris Guillebeau makes some assumptions about the reader’s knowledge when it comes to online marketing to a list, and it is focused more toward online business than traditional brick and mortar, although he gives some coverage of the latter. But in the case of recommending it for someone looking to earn an income online, that all changes to a 5 star rating. The ideas he presents here, even if some of them assume a certain level of knowledge, are quite helpful. And when combined with some other good reads like the Problogger book, I think you have a well rounded core reference.
The Art of Non-Conformity
Kind of a pre-cursor to The $100 Start-Up. The ideas here will encourage you to think outside the box in terms of finding ways to build a non-conventional and non-bricks-and-mortar business that makes sense and is viable. You can live life on your terms and still be a success.
