Increase Sales with Content Marketing

By Chad Butler 6 Comments

Content marketing is an effective process of using content to drive traffic.  Blog traffic is best turned into revenue with selling.  This could be selling premium content, digital products such as themes and plugins, or services such as coaching and consulting.

How can you effectively use your content to increase sales and build your revenue?  You need to build authority in your niche, grab the attention of your readers, hold that attention, help them decide to buy, and ask for the sale.

Sales (and thus Content Marketing) revolves around AIDA:

  1. Attention
  2. Interest
  3. Decision
  4. Action

If you have ever worked in sales, you probably already know these points.  Even if you are not in sales, but you have seen the movies Glengarry Glen Ross or Boiler Room, these points may not be new to you.

But knowing is not enough.  How do you put a content marketing plan into action that capitalizes on AIDA and turns that into a successful online business for you?  There is an old cliche in sales: “The fish don’t jump in the boat.”  While it may seem obvious, if you don’t ask for the sale, you are going to close a lot less sales. An effective content marketing strategy includes a sales strategy to turn traffic into revenue.

You need to have a plan to incorporates content marketing to drive traffic to your site, offer solid and useful content that builds authority in your niche, develop a list, and market yourself and your product.  Be sure to ask for the sale along the way.

This can be your year to increase your online revenue.  Here are some posts that will help you further develop your content marketing strategy and incorporate that into your sales process.
