Justice is indeed perverse
There are many strange things going on in our justice system right now that are, when you think about it, perverse.
Scooter Libby is a man who has been charged with the sin of having a different recollection of events than that others interviewed in the Plame-gate investigations. I am not going to get into a discussion of whether he was right or wrong, lying intentionally, or anything of that nature. Anyone reading this will fall into one of three camps, unlikely to ever change their mind:
You hate the Bush administration and want to see Libby rot in jail as some …
Coherent Response to FairTax Critics
Neal Boortz, co-author of The FairTax Book, has posted an excellent scenario for you to ponder if you are a critic of the FairTax Plan (H.R. 25 and S. 1025).
If you are unfamiliar the idea of the FairTax plan, it takes ALL taxes in this country (corporate, income, capital gains, social security, medicare, etc.), which are essentially taxes on income, and replaces them with a tax on consumption (a federal sales tax, if you will). If you haven’t read the book, I highly suggest you do. If you read the book with an open …
H.R. 25 (The FairTax) reaches 60 co-sponsors
This is a milestone for the FairTax - it has now reached 60 co-sponsors in the House of Representatives. This is a high-water mark for this bill in terms of number of co-sponsors. But more importantly, it shows that the grassroot movement in support of the FairTax plan is getting Washington’s attention. The only other serious tax reform legislation currently in the House is the Flat Tax with 4 sponsors.
Momentum is gaining on both sides of the aisle for the FairTax as members of Congress realize the need for this tax reform. Even Democratic Presidential Candidate …
Dean & Co. Look To November
Just because you repeat something over and over doesn’t make it true.
Howard Dean recently accused Republican of being weak on defense. [ Democratic chairman speaks at conference ] The problem is, his bullet points don’t hold any water with me.
First, he points out Osama bin Laden is still at large. That is true. However, many other key terror figures have been captured or have gone on to their 72 virgins (or grapes, depending on your translation). When Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was killed in Iraq, the Democrats (including Dean) were quick to point out, this is only one man - …
Boston’s Bottomless Hole (Big Dig)
The Big Dig is a huge scam. Now it’s a scam the has killed someone. Maybe you don’t live in Boston, or Massachusetts for that matter. Should you be concerned (other than the fact that someone died)?
You’d better believe it. You should be stark raving mad. The kind of mad that makes you jump up and down, shaking your fists, and vowing to call your Congressman.
This giant ripoff was budgeted at a cost of $2.5 billion dollars back in 1985. It has an ongoing current price tag of $15 billion, more than half of which has come from the federal …
