Lee Mercer - Presidential Candidate?
After looking at the Lee Mercer for President web site, I thought this guy cannot be serious, can he?
Here are some interesting tidbits:
His platform:
My platform for President of the United States Of America is Criminal Law. It is developed from my Method of Education. I was ordered to create and or invent by the United States Army that is now intact regulating the United States Government protecting it through Military Intelligence Computerization Management a new Disipline I invented and the Administration of Criminal Law Laws across the board.
Reasons for his candidacy:

Hotline to warn of immigration raids
A coalition is forming in California that would notify illegal immigrants of upcoming raids, thereby protecting them from being “terrorized” by federal immigration officials.
This has to be one of the most absurd things yet in the immigration policy debate. Since when is actually enforcing the law an abuse of power? Here’s a thought - just obey the law in the first place and there won’t be a problem.
Here’s a quote from an “immigrant” (I suppose the term illegal was overlooked) complaining about his “rights” being “trampled.”
“We want to have a more organized effort to counter these attacks,” said Jaime Conteras, …
My Holiday Entertainment
There should be plenty of commotion and hubbub over the 4th of July holiday to keep me plenty amused. About what, praytell? Scooter Libby.
The commuted sentence for Libby should cause a great deal of crying and bed wetting from the extreme liberal crowd. They will whine and carry on about how it is a political favor, etc., etc., ad nauseum. They will say that it is a travesty of justice the Libby not serve his time like other criminals (Paris Hilton, anyone?). You might even see a few uneducated bloggers refer to this as a …
A Confederacy of Dunces?
The news media in this country continues to go downhill, playing on the fact that the majority of Americans do not pay much attention to detail of current events unless it involves Paris Hilton or the next American Idol.
ABC ran some comments on their “Good Morning America” section today regarding Vice President Dick Cheney’s recent argument over turning documents over to the National Archives. Unfortunately, their opening sarcasm plays on the general ignorance of the population:
A quick civics quiz: Is the vice president part of the executive branch? You might think the answer is obvious, but apparently not to …
Some thoughts on illegal immigration
As we await a cloture vote in the Senate on the current immigration reform bill, I have some general thoughts on the subject.
1. I am sick of hearing news outlets such as those on PBS continually refer to illegal immigrants as “undocumented immigrants” or “undocumented workers.” They don’t like to use the word “illegal” because it weakens the argument that we should put a halt to this. They want you to think that if you are against putting a stop to illegal immigration that you somehow are un-American since America was built on immigration.
Unfortunately, that argument is completely wrong. Those …
