H.R. 25 (The FairTax) reaches 60 co-sponsors
This is a milestone for the FairTax - it has now reached 60 co-sponsors in the House of Representatives. This is a high-water mark for this bill in terms of number of co-sponsors. But more importantly, it shows that the grassroot movement in support of the FairTax plan is getting Washington’s attention. The only other serious tax reform legislation currently in the House is the Flat Tax with 4 sponsors.
Momentum is gaining on both sides of the aisle for the FairTax as members of Congress realize the need for this tax reform. Even Democratic Presidential Candidate …
More lessons in accountability
Contrary to what Paris Hilton’s attorney believes, her 45 day sentence for driving on a suspended license was fair. Hilton’s defense amounted to a lack of understanding and, had she known, she wouldn’t have been driving. Hasn’t she ever heard the expression, “Ignorance of the law is no excuse”?
This is another example of the lack of personal accountability in America. If Paris Hilton actually had any respect for the law, she would not have been driving on a suspended license. Instead of taking personal accountability for her actions, she points blame at faulty information given to …
Why Washington “Judge” Roy Pearson Owes Me $2,595,000
(But I’m willing to settle out of court for $1,000,000.)
It seems that Washington “Judge” Roy Pearson is suing his dry cleaner for losing his pants. The problem with this? The suit is for $65 million!
Suing the pants off dry cleaner
$65M lawsuit over lost pants
Part of Pearson’s request for damages includes $500,000 in emotional damages. What about the emotional damages sustained by the Chungs fighting this ridiculous lawsuit.
And what does this say of Pearson’s character? This man has chosen to destroy the lives of three people (the Chungs and their son) over a lousy pair …
Illogical Outrage
Ray Henry at the AP has written a story to tear at our heart strings. It seems that Henry believes that we should look the other way with illegal immigrants because there are children involved [ Read: Children stranded after immigration raid ]. But to employ that flawed logic is to say that we should not detain any criminals when children are involved. Murderers, rapists, thieves all should be let go if they need to get home to relieve the baby sitter?
Wake up people!‚ We have laws in this country that need to be respected. Immigration law is …
Well, I guess we can sleep at night
Based solely on the media coverage, one might believe that the most dangerous criminal in the world today is Scooter Libby. Apparently he is more dangerous than Osama bin Laden or Kim Jong Il. Now we can all sleep better knowing that the jury found him guilty of perjury. I almost feel like every tax dollar spent on this investigation was wisely appropriated.
I enjoyed this post on Neal Boortz’s site since it points out the obvious (to me anyway) fact that Sandy “The Pants” Berger did no time for stealing classified documents from the National Archives; and since they …
