Illegal immigrants sue for loss of overtime pay
In yet another mockery of our legal system, illegal immigrants are suing over the loss of overtime pay as the result of the federal raid on Michael Bianco, Inc. [ Read: Workers sue U.S. factory after immigration raid ]
The last time I checked, we had laws regarding who was eligible to work in this country and who was not. When I took my last job, I was required to submit paperwork detailing that I was, in fact, eligible for employment in the United States. If you are in this country illegally, you are breaking the law. If you are working in this country while living here illegally, you are breaking the law (as is your employer, if they have knowledge of this fact).
So the fact that 361 illegal immigrants are suing for overtime they missed out on as a result of these raids is not only absurd, it is a mockery of our legal system to acknowledge this as a legitimate suit. If you cannot in fact work in this country legally, how can you have any legal recourse for lost wages? Worse yet, these lost wages were a direct result of the fact that there were, in fact, workers employed at this factory illegally.
Talk radio host Neal Boortz makes an interesing observation:
Isn’t calling illegal aliens “workers” something like calling bank robbers “tellers”?
As if that story isn’t crazy enough, now it seems that there is also an uproar about illegal immigrants losing out on tax refunds [ Read: Illegal Immigrants Lose Out on Tax Refunds in Kansas, Missouri ].
