Illogical Outrage

Ray Henry at the AP has written a story to tear at our heart strings. It seems that Henry believes that we should look the other way with illegal immigrants because there are children involved [ Read: Children stranded after immigration raid ]. But to employ that flawed logic is to say that we should not detain any criminals when children are involved. Murderers, rapists, thieves all should be let go if they need to get home to relieve the baby sitter?

Wake up people!‚ We have laws in this country that need to be respected. Immigration law is but one of them. I agree with the sign carriers that say “No Human Being is Illegal!”‚ Absolutely true. But that does not mean those same human beings are exempt from the law. And they are certainly not exempt from the law just because they have children.

It is heartbreaking that some children might be left as wards of the state when their parents are deported; but the parents should have thought of that when they chose to break the law by crossing our border illegally. Of course, they have the opportunity to take the children with them but then that wouldn’t make for heart breaking journalism would it?
