A bit of housekeeping (read: attn comment spammers)

Posted on May 18, 2006 | Filed Under Editorial, Web, WordPress

All comments on this blog are moderated.

Now if you have a legitimate comment, please post it. I do not moderate comments to prevent posts from people that don’t agree with me.   If you have a differing view, that’s fine - post away.   All I ask is that you respond intelligently and avoid profanity.   (However, I do reserve the right to reference and debate alternative views - but hey, it’s my blog and I pay the bills.   At least I’ll let you have your say.)
I require registration to post, but this is a private blog, your email is not exposed.   The registration is merely there because I get inundated with comment spam.   If you don’t know what that is, don’t worry, it doesn’t matter other than it is an example of a small percentage of selfish people ruin things for everyone else.

Now, it is unlikely that any spammers are reading this at all, let alone this far, but if you are here is a special message for you:

DON’T BOTHER POSTING COMMENT SPAM! It is a complete waste of your time AND mine.   All comments are moderated and spam is marked as spam and/or deleted.   It does not see the light of day.   Since it will not EVER benefit you in ANY way, shape, or form, save yourself the effort and the time and go spam somewhere else.   You reap no benefit, and it will save me the time from having to delete your comments so I can see the legitimate ones.

If you are a legitimate blog reader, thank you for your time in letting me vent.   If you are spammer, I hope you get a virus.

I am currently in the process of adding tags to all legacy (pre-WP 2.3) posts. Not all posts have them yet, so this area may be empty

Ironically, I just marked a bunch of comments as spam from this very post. Would one of you moronic spammers develop a bot that determines if comments are moderated? It would make your bot more efficient and save me time marking your comments as spam - comments that would never see the light of day anyway.

By the way, my feelings have not changed - if you are a spammer, I hope you get a virus.

The above comment is another one of the ridiculous spam comments that drives me mad. I know they aren’t looking at this stuff, but - seriously, dude - write a smarter bot! I stripped out the link on it just to toy with the spammer.
