Uprising in the Making

Posted on March 30, 2006 | Filed Under Politics

I’ve been meaning to write on the immigration protests for some time. I’ve held off because I just haven’t completely developed my platform on the issues. However, I have to throw this short discourse out there because it is of concern.

We currently have an estimated 11 million illegals (yes, “illegals,” not “undocumented workers.” If you came here outside of proper channels, you are here illegally. There is no mincing words on this fact.) in the United States. Large numbers of these people are being incited to protest the current immigration reform.

Now, I work in downtown Chicago, so I witnessed one of these protests firsthand, and let me say that one of the things that crossed my mind and that of my office-mates was, “What if these protesters turned violent?” An uprising of 11 million people (to quote realclearpolitics.com: “a cohort larger than the combined populations of 12 states”) would make the current French protests look like a walk in the park.

Could it turn violent? Absolutely. This is a powder keg just looking for a match.

One of the antagonists in this scenario is the Mexica Movement. Some of their protest signs read:

  • “This is our continent, not yours!”
  • “We are indigenous! The only owners of this continent!”
  • “If you think I’m illegal because I’m a Mexican, learn the true history, because I’m in my homeland!”

They also protray Sensebrenner and Schwartzenager as Nazis (as if that will help win people to their cause). Their web site states that they consider white Americans to be European invaders.

(By the way, according to the Mexica Movement, if you believe that illegal immigrants are in this country illegally, you are a racist. I find that to be a pretty weak position. I purused their site and found that they resort to referring to those they deem “racist” as “idiots” and having a “low IQ.” I believe a proper definition of “racist” to be “a person with a prejudiced belief that one race is superior to others.” By the logic of the Mexica Movement, I would be considered a racist if I said a person of Asian descent was breaking the law by driving in excess of the posted speed limit and should therefore receive a speeding ticket. You can’t reason with people who are driven by emotion rather than logic. But I digress…)

These people don’t want to become American citizens. They want to take back land that they feel belongs to them. To their credit, the Mexica Movement calls for non-violence. But my warning is, large groups of people driven by an emotional issue tend to revert to mob mentality. In other words, it doesn’t take much spark to ignite this powder keg. And added to this mix are groups like the Aztlan Movement, which has called for “French style” protests. How would you like to see thousands of cars burning in the streets, torched by angry illegal aliens? Don’t think it can’t happen.

Ernesto Cienfuegos of La Voz de Aztlan (The Voice of Aztlan) wrote this last November:

Today, here in Los Angeles, we are already seeing ominous signs of an impending social explosion that will make the French rebellion by Muslim and immigrant youths seem “tame” by comparison. [ Full Story ]

Think about that when you head to the voting booth in November. What does “your” candidate think? Illegal immigration: illegal or not illegal?

Thanks for getting this subject out there for people to read. All these people are trying to look at this from all sorts of angles, but they aren’t seeing the very real threat of extreme violence that is possible. I figure thats one of the reason our government wants to make the millions of criminals in our country happy. The way I tell people is this - It took one incident, with one person, (Rodney King) to start riots in LA.
Thanks, and keep putting the truth out there.
    Rich
