Entertainment by Barbara Streisand (but not what you think)
Now… I am not immune to the occasional spelling error, but then, I don’t go around admonishing the President for being a C student, either.
I find it ironic then, that Barbara Streisand, referring to George Bush and the “The arrogance of this C student,” also had 11 spelling errors in the same post! Thank goodness for the Drudge Report and their quick thinking in making a screen shot of the original post since the errors were corrected by the Spelling Fairy as soon as the news hit the wire.
You can view a list of the errors in the Drudge post here and a screenshot here.
For your further entertainment, you can read a post on her site in regard to some previous spelling errors. I find it funny since the post calls the pointing out of such errors “a ruse to avoid addressing the real substance of the memo.” She blames an assistant for the errors and points out that “Barbra Streisand is a great speller, meticulous in her written communications!”
Sorry, Barbara. If you are going to hold yourself out to be some kind of super intelligent genius with intellect far superior to that of an Ivy League MBA, well, you’d better have your ducks in a row before you hit the “Publish” button. At least have the foresight to run spell check ahead of time. If you don’t, I’m afraid your errors are fair game and talk radio fodder. (You do know what fodder is, don’t you?)
I wonder what Barbara would be saying if John Kerry were elected President? Would she be calling him an “arrogant C student”? I mean, Kerry made a point of portraying himself as an intellectual, when in fact his grades at Yale were not even as good as Bush’s. Kerry got four Ds during his freshman year and graduated with a C average. I would say that portraying yourself as intellectually superior to your opponent, when in fact you did the same or worse, would qualify as arrogance. [ Stories on Kerry's grades here, and here ]
Personally, I am quite sick of hearing this type of whining from the Hollywood crowd, as if a high school diploma combined with multi-million dollar movie deals qualifies a person to intelligently discuss geo-political events with perspicacity and sagacity. And as my father used to say, “I refuse to fight a battle of wits with an unarmed man!”
