State of the Union
A site that I enjoy is Neal’s Nuze from talk radio show host Neal Boortz. Neal put together a little on what he’d like to hear from the President in the State of the Union. Pay attention GOP - these are key issues you need to focus on if you want to improve your position come mid-terms.
Let’s start with what Neal thinks Bush should say, but won’t:
“My fellow Americans. For decades presidents have used this occasion to tell you that the state of the union is strong. Perhaps it’s time to be a little more honest. The truth is that the state of the union, the state of this republic, is weak, and growing weaker with each passing year.
We are evolving from a nation of self-reliant individuals who once worked within a system of personal freedom and economic liberty, to a nation of whining malcontents; an ever-growing herd of reliant sheep making our daily pilgrimage to the trough of government to be fed. Things that our grandparents would have considered to be issues of personal responsibility are now generally looked upon as the responsibility of government. Freedom has taken a back seat to security, self-reliance a back seat to government dependency.”
Neal hits the nail on the head here. What is the biggest problem with American society today? Personal Responsibility! We live in an era where the majority of Americans feel that the fulfillment of their needs is the responsibility of government or their employer and that everything bad that happens to them is the fault of someone else. This attitude has driven us to a society of big government programs and expensive but frivolous litigation - both of which dig deep into your pockets in terms of taxes and cosumer costs.
True, the current DNC is being driven into irrelevance by its leadership - Dean, Pelosi, Reid, and Friends. They rant about the need to address some of these issues but offer no real solutions or viable alternatives. Does this mean a lack of ideas? It sure looks that way. Their only hope come November is that the GOP screws up.
Are you listening GOP? You have what is refered to in the sales industry as a “lay up”. But a lay up is not always a “lay down”. Continue the direction you are going and you will screw it up. Neal has given you some great food for thought and some talking points for your campaigns. [ read the full article ]
[Incidently, don't see eye to eye on energy production - most specifically ethanol. We are just around the corner from ethanol fuel production on a massive scale in this country, but that is the subject for an entire article so I won't digress.]
