Digging a Deeper Hole

The Belafonte saga continues. Following an appearance at the Children’s Defense Fund luncheon yesterday, Harry Belafonte defended his description of President Bush as the world’s worst terrorist. If you want to know how absolutely out of touch with reality this guy is, listen to his comments:

He said he was trying to “stimulate curiosity that comes from particularly the press so that we may have some kind of public debate on issues that we very rarely hear from our side of the agenda.”

“So when I make my remarks, they may stir up controversy, but then it’s time to talk about new definitions, new points of view.”

When asked by the reporter if he thought his remarks were outrageous, he responded, “Outrageous? The question is are they truthful?”

When I listened to the clip, and Belafonte’s responses to simple questions, it seems to me that Belafonte may have slipped and bumped his head on a hard object recently and not received proper medical attention.

As Bugs Bunny would say, “What a maroon!”

I’ll never be able to listen to the banana boat song again…
