An Open Letter To America

On December 1st, 10 U.S Marines were tragically killed in Iraq by an Improvised Explosive Device (I.E.D.)

One of those Marines was 19 year old Naperville, IL native, Lance Cpl. Adam Kaiser.

A cult group known as Westboro Baptist Church intends to picket the funeral of Lance Cpl. Kaiser. [ story] This is a group of anti-Americans who claim to be Christians and that God is punishing the unrighteous.

I have read through some of Pastor Fred Phelps’ material on his web site godhatesfags.com [CAUTION: if you are not slow to anger, you may not want to visit this site!]. Pastor Phelps seems to love quoting the vengengance and wrath of God from the Old Testament completely out of context. Any true follower of Christ can immediately see through their hate filled speech and recognize that this is not a church of Christians. Consider this test from 1 John 2:9,

Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness.

James 4:11

Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law.

Romans 2:1

Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things.

I do not, therefore, pass judgement on Pastor Phelps. Only God can do that.
